Speech Sound Disorders

This includes difficulty producing single sounds, clusters of sounds, or continuing the use of specific phonological processes. If your child is easily misunderstood due to errors in how they produce sounds or groups of sounds, support may be needed.

Expressive language
Impairments
This includes difficulty understanding spoken language. If your child has trouble properly using vocabulary, adequately expressing themselves, formulating sentences, telling a story, using appropriate grammar, etc., support may be needed.

Receptive language
Impairments
This includes using language in a variety of ways. If your child has trouble following directions, comprehending basic concepts, learning new vocabulary, or frequently asks for repetitions, support may be needed.

Stuttering/
Cluttering
This includes difficulty speaking fluidly and effortlessly. If your child struggles to get their words out or extends sounds, repeats sounds/phrases/words, or speaks with an inadequate rate or tone, support may be needed.
Social communication

This includes difficulty interacting with peers in a way that fosters friendships, social understanding, and overall acceptance. If your child finds perspective-taking, non-verbal cues, making friends, etc. challenging, support may be needed.
Selective mutism

This is an anxiety-based disorder with communication roots. It is the inability to speak in social situations (except in situations the child is most comfortable with). If your child does not voluntarily communicate verbally in certain situations, support may be needed.
